Wilpattu National Park  is situated approximately 1.5 hours drive from Kalpitiya and spans 131,693 hectares. Wilpattu is famous for its 60 natural lakes, open grassy plains and dense scrub jungle.  These unique conditions make it one of the best places in the world to see leopards and the rare sloth bear as well as large herds of elephants and deer.
